Hello Fellow Titans!
Welcome to our class site! Of course, it's much too early to be able to choose a date for our 40-year reunion, but if we were to hold it on the same weekend in April, it would be April 30, 2011 and there are just -
Hey Everyone! By ALL accounts so far, just the morning after the big night, our 35-year Reunion was a great success and the turnout perhaps even better than we all could have hoped for! I can't stress enough what I'm about to say about the efforts of Liz, Patti, and Toni. These ladies spent an unfathomable amount of time looking for, and confirming, any kind of contact information for as many of our classmates as possible. Except for just a small percentage who couldn't be found (remember, there are always a few who DON'T want to be found), they were extremely successful in their quest. Of course we all wanted everyone to be able to attend, even if it's not a practical goal, but I could see their excitement when they found someone who was previously missing, whether or not they wanted to attend the Reunion. It didn't matter. It was like finding a long lost family member after all these years. Come to think of it, maybe that's just what it was. For the most part during the first 18 years of our lives, we were almost like an extended family. Many of the bonds and frendships formed during those years were undeniable strong. Even though we may not have been well-acquianted with everyone, we still share many of the same memories and experiences. Perhaps that explains why it is so easy to strike up a conversation at a reunion - whether you knew the person well or not - because we share so much. There are some things that time just can't wash away.
Now, just because the reunion has now come and gone, don't forget to keep coming back to the Web site occasionally - our CLASS Web site. In the next few days there will be photos of both the Friday night get-together at El Torito's and of course, the Reunion at the Crown Plaza in Pleasanton. Liz took about 40 pictures from El Torito's and had just got started with more at the Reunion when her camera's battery died. Now, I've heard there were a lot of flashes going off all night, so our class is really depending on you to send in whatever you have. If you have some digitals, you can either email me with the full-sized files (I have high-speed Internet if you do) or else burn them to disk and snail mail them to me. If you have photos that aren't digital, you could either scan them or send them to me and I'll scan them and send them back to you. I finally got a NEW scanner that makes life so much easier. :-) Please just email me and I'll send you my mailing address.
> Have you seen the new photo album section yet? What we're looking for are old photos and memorabilia that can be scanned and shared with all our classmates, and Nancy Rietzke got things started with an awesome array of stuff! Since then, Jeri Otteson Van Dyke and Dorothy Colloran have contributed some photos and I understand more will be coming in soon. Check it out. It'll really bring back some memories. Then please check out anything you might have stored away. What you might think is just an old memory, might bring someone else back to a place they hadn't been in many years. Nancy had photos of our Lewelling School years that blew me away. So, if you have something you could share, just scan and send to lar@mchsi.com, or snail mail what you have and I promise to return them as soon as I get them scanned. It doesn't have to be a big collection. It could just be a prom picture, or a program from a school play, a lunch menu... anything! That's what our Web site is all about - sharing memories.
Your comments and suggestions are always welcome and appreciated! Please contact anyone from the reunion committee if you have anything on your mind. We're dedicated to keeping our class together and making future reunions as good as it can be. That's only possible if we all can contribute ideas. And if you can help with locating anyone on the missing list, please let us know.
The Class Directory is up and running and will include anyone's email address by permission. We're getting more and more requests to have email addresses added. If you would like to include your email address (or addresses), please email us to get it listed. We respect the privacy of our classmates and won't be able to give out an email address without prior permission of the classmate. There's a temporary password protection for the Directory - the username is our school mascot, and the password is the name of the boulevard our school was on, which of course can hold the flames of all the candles of our classmates. It isn't rocket science, but it should keep the evil-doer spammers away. Please - don't feel embarrased if you can't remember either keyword... we are getting to that... uh... that... ummm... oh, whatever. The Directory will also keep track of anyone who wants to go to future reunions, as well as let you know who came to the last one.
Please remember to let us know your current email address so we can keep the records updated and help reduce mailing costs of announcements. This is really important! Just drop a line to anyone from the reunion committee if you're not sure we already have your email address.
Have an announcement you'd like to share on our class site? Please email your news and we'll post it A.S.A.P. right here. Or don't forget about the Message Board where you can bring up or comment on any topic you'd like. If you want, you can start a new topic about anything.
March on Titans!
